I feel incredibly lucky and proud of the journey I've undertaken during my time in college. Every class and extracurricular activities has offered me immense opportunities to try and explore various forms of art, from light art, dance to installation, performance, and sculpture. The more I learn and practice, the more I realize how art has the power to tell profound stories, reflect cultures, and capture the essence of humanity. This is a collection of my journey, where each piece reflects not only my artistic growth but also my deep appreciation for how art speaks.
This light art installation uses white boxes and light source to create shifting spots of light and dynamic shadows by manipulating different sides of the box. It explores the interplay between light, shadow, and space, inviting reflection on perception and atmosphere.
2. This is a clay sculpture food art featuring detailed representations of everyday foods.
3. This wood assignment gave me the opportunity to bring the essence of fall into the studio. As I walked around campus searching for inspiration, I realized that my busy semester had pulled me away from the fall activities I usually enjoy, like trekking and spending time with friends. Noticing that the trees no longer had many leaves made me realize how much I missed fall that year. So, I decided to bring the fall experience into the space. I invited classmates to join in, enjoy the fall atmosphere, read books, have pastries and tea, and chat together. In this way, art brought people together in a shared experience.
4. In this dance performance, I used a fan as a prop to symbolize both the delicate and powerful aspects of femininity. Set to a song based on the famous Vietnamese poem "Bánh Trôi Nước," the piece reflects the struggles of women during the feudal period. Through graceful yet intense movements, I express their internal conflicts, silent strength, and resilience, honoring their untold power and beauty.
